RED CENTRE LIMES

In recent years we have been experimenting with RED CENTRE LIMES which are available during the autumn and are used in Red LIme Jelly and also in Red Lime Marmalade.

RED CENTRE LIMES are a tangy thumb-sized fruit with amazing blood-red skin and a flavour which really packs a punch.

Fruit can be eaten straight off the vine or placed whole or sliced in salads, squeezed over barbecued fish or as a garnish for seafood. It can also be used as a garnish for drinks , stir fries or in dipping sauces.

This fruit is popular with chefs because of its visual impact when used whole in salads or on cheese and antipasto or seafood platters.

PASSIONFRUIT

PASSIONFRUIT (passiflora edulis) is a vine species of passionflower native to southern Brazil through Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is cultivated commercially in tropical and sub-tropical areas for its sweet, seedy fruit.

PASSIONFRUIT has a tough outer rind and juicy seed-filled centre. There are several types of Passionfruit that vary in size and colour.

The most common backyard variety - “Nellie Kelly” which bears purple fruit usually experiences peaks during summer, autumn and winter.

Passionfruit provides key nutrients, is rich in anti-oxidants, is a good source of fibre, has a low glycaemic index, boosts the immune system, supports heart health and reduces anxiety.

TABLE GRAPES

Table grapes are grapes intended for consumption while fresh, as opposed to grapes grown for wine production, juice production, or for drying into raisins.

We grow red, black and white seedless varieties .

Grapes are one of the oldest edible plants to be cultivated, along with olives. Fossils indicate that the consumption of grapes dates back as far as 5000 BC.

Grapes were brought to Australia with the First Fleet in 1788 by Ca[ptain Arthur Phillip, founder of the colony of New South Wales. He planted a small vineyard with cuttings from South America and South Africa, as one of his first ventures in agriculture.
